Officine della Conoscenza, Bologna
Co-planning public space and knowledge in Bologna.

Learn · Fondazione Rusconi Ghigi (Villa Ghigi) · 2025–2026
For the “Officine della Conoscenza” citizen-science strand of Bologna’s national urban-innovation programme, an in-person bootcamp was run to train the Foundation’s working group, then a workshop to gather its needs and priorities. From that came a visual toolkit: 30 design measures — mini-roundabouts, raised pedestrian crossings, school squares, cycle lanes, nature-based solutions — each illustrated with AI visualisations set against 13 professionally photographed Bologna sites across four typologies: parks, squares, crossroads and streets.
Who took part
The Foundation’s working group, up to eight participants at the bootcamp.
What the tool did
A card-deck of AI-illustrated design solutions grounded in real local sites — a shared visual vocabulary of 30 concrete options the working group can point to and argue with, rather than 30 abstractions.
What changed
Phase one is complete; a second phase configuring a standing platform for the Officine della Conoscenza programme is contracted to follow.
