Vienna Supergrätzl: Testing a City Model Block by Block

For the City of Vienna’s Supergrätzl (superblock) programme, scenario evaluation helps planners and residents see how the city model lands on specific streets — cooler, calmer, more playable — before commitment, while imagination is still cheap to change.

With Urban Innovation Vienna, the city’s innovation company, the project brings block-by-block testing to the Supergrätzl rollout: residents and planners transform photographs of their own streets, compare scenarios against the programme’s goals, and build a documented preference record for each block.
