In 2023 the platform ran three registers in Pristina at once. Children aged 10–17, convened through municipal Children Councils under the UNDP City Experiment Fund, co-designed child-friendly public spaces over a six-month process: three proposals were finalised and UNDP reported implementation of two initiated by September 2023. In parallel, festival workshops with the Kosovo Architecture Foundation tackled renaturing against heat-island effect, and residents shaped the Blloku 1 neighbourhood regeneration through surveys, workshops and direct voting.
Who took part
Children aged 10–17 via the municipal Children Councils; architecture students, citizens and stakeholders at the Kosovo Architecture Festival; Blloku 1 neighbourhood residents.
What the tool did
Brainstorming, design roundtables, AI testing workshops and mood boards carried the children’s process from idea to buildable proposal — including an amphitheatre with modular seating and a play-and-seating structure with swings.
What changed
UNDP initiated implementation of two child-designed spaces, and its Geneva office later cited the Prishtina partnership as an example of AI for public involvement in urban planning.
