The capacity-builder model working as intended: after a bootcamp and platform subscription, GIZ Data Lab staff themselves generated AI scenarios of real Manila streets for the “Building Feminist Cities” session at the Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum, 17 May 2024. The reimagined streets applied feminist planning criteria — emergency buttons and lighting, ramps and tactile pavement, benches, drinking fountains, all-gender restrooms — and travelled as printed postcards on a 2.1 km Jane’s Walk past the very same sites, with 67 participants.
Who took part
Transport-policy professionals at the forum’s gender sessions; the walk drew 67 participants (56% female, 44% male) and a panel of regional experts on gender and mobility.
What the tool did
Client-operated generation: GIZ staff produced the before/after imagery on the platform themselves, making feminist design criteria tangible against the street reality outside the venue.
What changed
Positive feedback carried the format onward: the Building Feminist Cities series continued to Brasília in August 2024 and Nairobi in December 2024 before wrapping in 2025.
